If you want to get out of the house and spend an afternoon with your friends, go to a sports game! For just $3-$9 at the door, you and your date can cheer on a friend and have a great time while making new memories together. If you don't know anyone on the team, that's okay too! Watch for some player's parents or siblings in the crowd. Or ask someone on staff if they know any players off-season who might play for other teams.
$$$ Price: $3 - $9 per person
Time: 2+ hours. Sometimes games are close so stay through to the end!

If you want something that really shows how much you care, send your date a cute card before the game. If it's their first time at a sports game and they're nervous, tell them you're excited to see them and root for them from the stands. This is an especially great idea if you want to get closer with someone but don't know where to start dating yet!
$$ Price: free (if you make or buy cards)
Time: 5 minutes + waiting for the game to start

Unless your date loves sports as much as you do, this probably isn't the best free dating idea for teens. You can still go and cheer on a team; just keep some popcorn and water in your bag. If they're not really into sports, they might be bored or uncomfortable at first - try talking about other things like school or hobbies to break the ice.
$$ Price: $3-9 per person for ticket; $10 snack minimum (if you buy food)
Time: 2 hours

If you and your date both love sports and want to get closer but aren't quite dating yet, go see a game together! Even if it's their first time seeing a game, tell them you're excited to spend the afternoon with them while still giving enough space for them to enjoy themselves. It can be scary dating someone new, so try dating outside your friend group and doing something everyone likes.

If you don't care about watching the game, bring a book and enjoy the afternoon sun on the bleachers! However, if you want to get closer without dating (yet), go talk to some of the players or their parents who are in the stands. You can also try dating outside your friend group with people from other sports teams at school. If they're not interested, it's probably because they're focused on playing well - let them be and apologize for distracting them. Just like dating someone new, dating around your friend group can be scary, so dating outside it is a good way to try dating without pressuring your friend group.

Sports games are always fun when you don't care about the game itself - but dating someone new (or dating outside of your friend-group) is scary! Come up with some cute things to say before the game starts to make your date's first time at a sports game more fun! Even if they're not into sports, cheer on everyone who looks like they're playing and offer them snacks. When dating someone new (or outside of your friend group), dating is hard enough - so dating around a friend's group is easier when you both have something in common.

If you haven't seen them in a while, sending your friend a card before their game can remind them that they have an awesome friend cheering them on! Bonus points if it has cute little puns on it - maybe something about dating someone new is difficult so dating outside of your friend group is scarier. You don't have to be dating anyone at all to send someone a nice card, though - sometimes being there for each other means just being there. Plus, dating around this way means more dating experience pressuring any friends!
