dating tips : Look through old photos
You're dating someone. Things are going great; you've met their friends and family, they've met yours. They're seriously the best thing to happen to you since your last serious relationship (until now). You can't stop thinking about how lucky you are to have them in your life. Let's take it one step further: let's say things are getting super serious, like marriage-serious. It's time for an upgrade - you need a bigger apartment, better furniture, that wedding band...and maybe even some baby booties. Now is not the time for half-measures! Photo albums hold memories of significant people in our lives and provide snapshots into our pasts with our loved ones. Sometimes we even see ourselves in pictures of our dating lives before we were dating the person we're dating. It's both nostalgic and romantic to go through old photo albums with your significant other, so get out your best ones! Photo albums are great because they give you a reason to get all organized - organized for dating, that is. You can include some of these dating tips below when you're looking through them: • Make sure each album tells a story! • Bring snacks. Food always makes things better. • Sit on the comfiest couch/chair/bed in your place together as you look at them. Or, if you'd rather not be cooped up inside, take them outside for a little stroll down memory lane! Just don't let it get too nostalgic - you still have a partner to impress. • Pick one of your dating milestones and ask your partner what they remember about that time in your lives. What were the dating deal breakers and the dating goals? Did they think you'd last this long together? Why or why not? • Talk about how great they looked back then – and look at them now! They still look good, but probably different – we all change as we grow up (some for worse, some for better). How has their style changed over the years (and most importantly, who do they dress like now)? If you used to go shopping together, talk about what made those items iconic outfits of yours. (optional) • Keep it up! Make this an ongoing activity in your dating life. You can even make it an annual tradition to go through old photos for that extra special celebration (Valentine's Day, bachelorette/bachelor party, wedding anniversary). Look through old photos with your date. Your dating partner will appreciate the gesture and it will be fun looking back on past moments. It's also something you can do anytime if you don't have photo albums around (i.e., waiting for them to come over after work).
