So, you've asked someone out on a date. Great job! But it's not time to celebrate quite yet; you still need to call your potential date.
Don't worry - calling them isn't that scary. It just takes a little preparation and maybe some caffeine if you're feeling anxious about it.
Here are some dating tips to help you get started:
1) Choose the best time for them . Unless they have explicitly told you what times are okay, don’t call during dinner or when they’re at work, especially because people tend to eat dinner around 6 pm and work typically runs from 9-5 so asking if 7 pm works is okay would be okay but calling at 6 pm might result in an awkward dinner.
2) Prep the phone call . Are you going to call them from your cell or a landline? If it's your cell, make sure it has enough battery power and that you know which network they use so you can avoid roaming charges. If it's a landline, ensure the line is clear of any other sounds (eg: music). Ensure yourself some privacy - if there are pesky housemates around, ask them to leave the room for a few minutes
3) Be prepared . Have something witty to talk about in mind. It’s dating advice that comes from my dating blogger experience
You don’t have to be 100% ready but at least have a general idea of what topics might interest them.
4) Call them . You can either call from a landline or cell; the choice is yours. If it’s a landline, introduce yourself and let them know you were unable to text as you couldn’t find their number (true dating tips) but that you wanted to make sure they got your message and ask if 7 pm works for tonight. Make sure they confirm; phone dating etiquette dictates that if they don't answer, leave a voice mail and call later in case there was network trouble (or if their mom came home and took the phone away... dating advice brings joy too).
If it's a cell, just call from the same number you messaged from. Introduce yourself - dating advice says it's not dating advice if you don't say your name - and ask them how they're doing (true dating tips). Let them know that you were calling to confirm 7 pm tonight. If they say yes, congrats! You’re ready for the date.
If they say no... dating advice won’t help here because obviously something isn’t clicking; maybe next time dating advice can convince someone to go out with me? If it's a genuine reason like family plans or an injury, dating advice will tell you that this is okay
However if they give what dating expert says is an unacceptable excuse, I suggest re-evaluating your approach before asking again. And good luck on dating sites !

Hi sweet pea! This sounds like a great idea! Well, not that I have anyone to call... but yes. Good luck on DATING SITES!!! Reply Delete
What are "dating sites"?? All I see are ads for eHarmony, Christian Mingle, JDate, okcupid... Reply Delete
I think dating sites should be called dating websites because dating isn't the only thing that happens on dating websites. Reply Delete
Well, you have a good starting point with your friends and family... dating advice suggests going from there

I feel like calling is way too forward for a girl to do to a guy. It feels very predatory and I imagine they would know immediately why you were calling them rather than just texting them. If you're having trouble getting their number then I'd recommend waiting it out until they call you instead of being so direct. Good luck! Reply Delete
Hey thanks for the comment! Let's just say that I'm not looking for 'the one' right now
. Cheers! Reply Delete
Greetings dating expert! You're right; dating sites are dating websites, and dating is one of the things people do on dating websites... but what about how to date? What kind of dating advice (from a female prospective) can you get there? Dating online definitely feels like the real thing. Well, three fourths of it does anyway- I've never actually met them in person :/ Delete
Hey thanks for stopping by! Like I mentioned above, dating advice suggests starting with your friends and family if you have any around... who knows, maybe they'll have some good dating advice to share too ! Delete
Yes yes yes. If someone sees me in public talking on my phone that generally means "do not interrupt unless you want to be stabbed" and so dating tips dating dating dating. Many people consider dating advice dating sites dating websites at dating tips, but I specifically disagree with them for this article. But yeah... if someone wants me to call them they can ask for my number themselves... It's not like I'm going to grab their phone and put it into the dialing app or anything weird like that. For some reason I feel like you're putting words in her mouth because of personal bias- which is fine! Everyone has their own opinion on what dating expert says is ok and isn't. However this could lead readers astray, especially since you were the one who recommended starting with friends/family in the place! Dating advice means following
